If you sell drinks in glass or plastic bottles, or cans, within 50ml and 3L volume that are taken off-site, you must register as a Return Point.  You may be able to apply for an exemption, these are managed by Zero Waste Scotland and can be applied for here.

There are two types of return point exemption applications available: proximity and environmental health.

Proximity exemption: this is relevant if your business has an agreement with another nearby return point to take back containers on your behalf, it is easily accessible, and it is open at similar times to you.

Environmental health exemption: if you can demonstrate that operating a return point puts your business in breach of other legislation, such as environmental health, food or fire safety.

Exemptions are managed by Zero Waste Scotland and can be applied for here.

We will contact you if we need more information.  We will use the information provided by you to form the logistics plan, including collection frequency, collection day and payment day for return handling fees.  We will provide these to you once available.
